Overview

Senior Java developer/architect with more than 20 years of experience in software development in a variety of industries seeks responsible position as an enterprise, application, or data architect or lead developer. Extensive experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle including architecture, design, documentation and delivery of enterprise Java, SOAP/REST web services, and database solutions. Balanced skill set includes a strong database and middleware background, experience with a variety of client platforms including J2EE, HTML5/CSS/JavaScript and Flex, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Strategic thinker, skilled implementer, fast learner, and willing mentor.

I am currently only interested in job opportunities in the Pittsburgh, PA area. I prefer areas downtown and west or north of downtown but might consider other opportunities if the circumstances are right. Relocation from the Pittsburgh area in the immediate future would only be a possibility if the opportunity were truly exceptional.

Responsible for data architecture, management and modeling for the Field Services AssetShield application. Led a team of five data architects and analysts. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Architecture and Core services.

While on assignment to Wachovia Bank, Charlotte, NC. Architect and lead developer on the TReqS application, an internal bank application used by all bank employees to requisition technical services, hardware, and software. Redesigned and implemented the existing Flex client interface to eliminate numerous performance, stability and maintainability issues.

Architect / Lead Developer        Northland Church, Longwood, FL [Jan 2006 – Oct 2007]

Designed and implemented the initial version of ResourcePoint, a web-based application used to deliver goods and services to in-need members of the local community. Led architecture and design effort for the church's online worship application.

Architect / Developer          Convergys Corp, Lake Mary, FL [Oct 2001 – Jan 2006]

Led design and development for several call center applications, including a low cost CRM tool, a chat tool, an email processing application, and a desktop framework designed to deliver these applications on-demand to call center agents.

Educational Background

Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science awarded by Concord College (now Concord University), Athens, WV in December 1990. Graduated Cum Laude.  Recipient of the Bruce Covey Mathematics Prize.

Jan 1991 – Dec 1992. Completed 30+ hours of Computer Science graduate work with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Left school to accept a full-time job offer prior to completion of thesis or project and subsequent award of MS degree.

January 1986. Graduated from the Defense Language Institute (Russian) at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX.  Awarded the Commandant's Award for academic excellence.
